Games

My 20 year old son Apoorva, a three-year Microsoft Student Partner, wants to make a career in the gaming industry. He has released four games in the Windows Phone 7 market and two games in the Android market. He has received from Microsoft Nokia’s Lumia 800 Windows Phone for the four games he created.

He is currently studying in the last year of engineering for his bachelor’s degree in IT, which is a four-year course.

A game he developed at the Windows 8 AppFest 2012 (organized by Microsoft in Bangalore) won a trophy. Microsoft had invited 2567 persons to this event based on the application concepts they had submitted. Microsoft called it an 18-hour coding Marathon. (600 completed applications were evaluated by the Microsoft team and top eight were awarded trophies.) Apoorva added more features to it and released it on February 1. The game is a kind of puzzle having some built-in levels. And one can create own levels and tweet them.

Microsoft selected him for a 2-month summer internship that started on Monday, June 3, 2013; Danny Cowan (UK) covered Socioball at IndieGames.com (details pasted below). Have a look at this trailer. Apoorva plays guitar and has composed the music for the trailer himself. If you too find the game interesting, and would like to buy it, you can do so at Desura.
